Wayne Weiseman has been certified by Bill Mollison and The Permaculture Institute of Australia to teach the Permaculture Design Certification Course. Raised partly in the country as well as New York City, Wayne learned at a young age how to find solace in nature. Wayne has been working with plants for as long as he can remember. He has worked as a builder and contractor, herbalist, renewable energy expert, and farmer for the past twenty-five years. He currently focuses his energy at Dayempur Farm in Southern Illinois, a land-based, self-reliant community project, combining organic crop/food production, ecologically-built shelter, renewable energy, appropriate technologies and educational programs. He is also the Director of The Permaculture Project, a full-service, international consulting business promoting the ideas of eco-agriculture, renewable-energy resources and eco-construction methods. His skills in this area led him to leading a full permaculture design course for the staff and friends of the Findhorn Community in Scotland in the summer of 2005 Dayempur Farm Dayempur Farm is a land-based, self-reliant community project, combining organic crop/food production, ecological shelter and energy, appropriate technologies and educational program. This sixty acre multipurpose project, is located in Anna, Illinois amidst the spectacular Shawnee National Forest. The merging of five distinct ecosystems in Southern Illinois creates an astounding diversity of plant and animal life and a rich social history. Dayempur Farm is located 18 miles south of Carbondale, home of Southern Illinois University. The Permaculture Project helps to build the proper eco-skills necessary in all areas of life. Our vision is to make sure that all of our students and clients are able to read directly from the very “Book of Nature.” Care and love of the environment are at the core of our work; ethics and values grow naturally out of these practices. We engage the whole person - body, mind and spirit - as we teach strong observational and listening skills necessary to understand the functioning of the world around us. The Permaculture Project believes that education focuses our efforts to answer life's fundamental questions. Learning the answers to these questions is best encouraged through love, nurturing, cooperation and reverence for all life.
