Camping and Cooking at the MREA Permaculture Design Courses

Campsites:
There are about 15 campsites close to the MREA building/classroom. All overflow will go to the 'Back 40' campground which is about 1.5 miles down the road. Each site will have a flat space for a tent, and a picnic table. There is a composting toilet available in the campground, and if the site fills, we will order a couple of porta-potties as well. There is potable water at both locations but campers will need to bring water jugs if they want water at there sites. There is also a wood-burning sauna, and a communal fire pit.

Cooking Options:
Campers may set up their own cook stoves on the picnic tables in their camping area.  The communal fire pit can also be used depending on the fire danger at the time and proper burning permits. There is also in the MREA building a stove, some pots & pans, plates and a sink for washing dishes, but those students desiring to use/share this space must coordinate their efforts. Good clean-up is a must as MREA staff and the folks preparing our lunches will be using this space during the day. Students should bring their own coolers if they have fresh foods they wish to keep.  Ice is available to purchase near-by.

Note: If you wish to eat lightly for breakfast and dinner, there will be healthy snack foods for morning and afternoon breaks, not to mention a very hearty lunch. You may not require much more than this.

Showers:
Besides the wood-burning sauna, there is only one shower in the MREA building, so students will be asked to set up a workable schedule. If there is sufficient overflow into the 'Back 40' campground, the shower building there might be opened up for camper's use.  Personal solar shower bags will also be a good option.

Note: We will have more clarity on the final details as we near each of the courses since the size of enrollment will affect how we set things up. The very final details will be discussed via email or webinar in the last couple of weeks before each course begins.
